Fireplace Cleaning in Lakeland, FL

What fireplace cleaning actually involves in Lakeland

Most fireplaces here burn a handful of evenings a year. Heavy creosote is rarely the finding. What comes out of Lakeland flues is nest material. Swifts and squirrels pack it tight above the smoke chamber. Chimney swifts are federally protected. An active nest waits until the birds fledge.

Open masonry fireboxes in pre-1960 Lakeland and Bartow homes get a different approach than brochures suggest. Clay tile liners deteriorate. Some older flues were never lined. Aggressive brushing can knock loose shards into the smoke shelf. That shelf collects years of grit, mortar crumbs and twigs. It gets vacuumed out, not swept downward.

Factory-built prefab fireboxes in 1980s through 2000s subdivisions need poly brushes. Wire scores the refractory panels. On those units the cracks and panel gaps matter more than soot film. Damper plates are thin steel and warp or seize.

Gas log sets are not swept at all. They get vacuumed and inspected. Spider webbing in burner ports produces lazy yellow flame and sooted logs. Ventless sets darken the back wall. Logs sitting on a wood-burning grate is a frequent wrong install.

Cleaning without going up top is half a job. Pooled water on a rusting chase cover undoes everything done inside.
